Student Fees
Student fees do not cover the full cost of education at TCCA. They cover only a fraction of it. Not only do students depend on the financial support of sponsors, but the College also needs regular contributions for the support of staff, library acquisitions, and general day-to-day operations. Student fees are set annually by the Board of Governors of the College and are due in full on the first day of each term. An extra levy is added to the fees of foreign students. Students taking nine or more credit hours will be charged full tuition; those taking less than nine hours will be charged on a per credit hour basis.
Living Expenses
In addition to the fees, the College provides students and sponsors with an estimate of minimum living expenses for the support of the student (and of his family if married) while he or she is studying at the College. These are normally paid to the College along with the fees, and are then paid out from the Business office as a monthly ration to the students.
The College encourages local churches and other organisations to support the students they recommend both prayerfully and financially. The responsibility for all costs lies with the student and his or her sponsoring agency. Therefore, students need to communicate clearly with their sponsors regarding financial needs.
It should be noted that the College’s estimate of living expenses is minimal, and needs may vary from student to student (e.g., costs for health care or children’s education). Thus, we encourage sponsors to show their interest in the students by communicating regularly with them to see how they are doing. Also, since the cost of books is not included in the College fees or living expenses, we recommend sponsors consider providing students with the equivalent of at least US $100 per year for this purpose. Every year there is opportunity for students to purchase books at significant discounts; this opportunity ceases at graduation.
Payment of Fees
Students must ensure that fees are paid to the Business Administrator by the first day of each term. Students whose fees are not paid in full by the end of the second week of the term will not be permitted to continue with classes. A refund of 50% of fees paid will be granted for any student who withdraws from classes on or before Friday of the sixth week of the term; after this no refund will be granted.
Financial Assistance
Several churches and organisations provide funds for student grants. Applications for grant aid may be submitted during the third term of each year; allocations are determined by a committee composed of both staff and students. These scholarships are not normally granted to first year students.
